    (resume from)sleep issue

    Hi all,
I found some related problems but no proper solution to this problem.
I have kubuntu maverick running on my laptop with amd turion m500 dual core and ati radeon mobility 4200 hd graphics.

My laptop does not come back from the sleep mode.
    - The lights (like for wifi and sound) are on (they are red ,as if wifi and sound are disabled).
    - The screen seems to be turned off.
    - The problem persists even if i force turn-off and then start the system again so i have to remove the battery to actually restart the system.

Someone suggested maybe the hardware doesn't like the driver so I installed the proprietary drivers but that did not do it.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I don't have a solution for you, I was never able to find how to debug this issues.

Drivers can be the problem, yes.

    You may also
Try hibernation, see if that works

or: Check your bios power setting (APM, ACPI, power states - Advanced Configuration and Power Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )
Start with only S1 if possible, and see how it goes

Check your /var/log/syslog messages before the forced shutdown

Disable computer to sleep on power management. Just leave display to sleep, Not what you desire, I know.

Hope it may give you some clue or working compromise
    Regards
    Luis
