    Can you try this.
    1. reboot
    2. wait until everything is loaded.
    3. Open a console
    4. type dig
    5. do you see your dns settings ?
    if not
    6. (sudo) ifconfig;
    put the output here for us to see

    Network problem on laptop

    If its only your wifi connection which is disabled, try Fn F5 or whatever hotkey your laptop uses to enable/disable wireless connections. I had that problem after upgrading a IBM X60 and had to hit Fn F5 just the first time I used it.

    Could be a hardware switch.
    My laptop has a toggle switch which is placed in the off position will result in what you describe.

    Thanks mrpaulin !!!

    I had exactly this problem too. iwconfig returned "no wireless" etc. I thought the wifi card had died or something. Problem fixed with a single key press...
