[SOLVED] Network-Manager applet disappeared
Hey all,
My Network-Manager applet ('nm-applet') has disappeared from the GNOME panel.
When I boot the computer it appears for a flash and then disappears.
Before this problem occurred I was trying to establish a DSL connection over a wireless network connection. I switched the wireless card from Infrastructure to Ad-Hoc mode. This produced a problem where my Network connections corrupted and then on reboot disappeared.
Prior this, I executed 'poff -all' and prior that tinkered in 'pppoeconf'.
Does anyone know what I could have done to cause this issue?

I solved the problem by deleting '/etc/network/interfaces'.
I also replaced the file with the stock file.
pppoeconf was the culprit. Apparantly nm-applet ignores manually configured network interfaces (which I did when tinkering in pppoeconf). As there were no interfaces under nm-applets control, it showed nothing hence disapearing.
The credit for solving this problem goes to 'mgois' from the ubuntuforums.org forums.
