My HDD isn't being detected by Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD?
Windows crashed on my PC and this LiveCD won't detect the HDD, neither will GParted. I checked the HDD's connections and they're fine. I want to try to diagnose the HDD via the LiveCD, but I don't know how to run commands and the only one that I've read of is dmesg.

Is there a device file for your harddisk in /dev?

I don't know how to check.
Do you know what the widgets in my attachment mean? They're from Kubuntu 9.10 LiveCD. I think they do detect my HDD.

I can't read the image you posted at all. It's way too small. What makes you think your HDD isn't being detected? It will probably be identified as sda, perhaps hda, it won't have a letter like you see in Windows. There is no C: drive in Linux.

Still very small. But it doesn't make any sense to post images of you GUI here. In order to help you we'd need some command line output. E.g. the output of
Code:ls /dev | grep -E '^(sd|hd)'

I don't know how to run commands, I only know how to access the terminal.

And in the terminal you enter that command. Enter then executes it.
