    creating new partition in terminal

    Hi All,

I am a newbie in linux, and Im trying to learn how to create a partition in terminal, like using fdisk.

If you guys don't mind giving me some idea or teach me how to do it in command line, what are the commands to be executed and if there are best practices that I should observe when doing it.

I will really appreciate the help that I could get.

    Thank you

now I was able to create a partition. And now, what I am trying to figure out is how can I use my partition or how can I save files or install applications on it.

I have tried creating a file system and mounting it, yet I still have no luck, saying "Permission Denied".

Though I am not sure if that is the right way to do it.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi All,

I changed the permission of the directory where I mounted my partition and it worked. I wa sable to copy files in the directory. Im just not sure if that's the best solution.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

I'm not sure which method you used to change the permissions but you can usually change them in the /etc/fstab file. More info on doing it that way here:
