GRUB Problem
Hello, I am a new user of Linux. I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 and every time I turn my machine on I get the GRUB 1.9 boot loader with the following list:
Linux Ubuntu
Linux Ubuntu (recovery)
Memory test
Memory test (something else)
Windows recovery partition
I have one recovery partition (Dell Inspiron) at 10.00GB
And the rest of my hard drive is for Linux
(4000mb swap)
(305gb /)
This has only just started happening after I reinstalled 10.10 and wasn't behaving like this last night.
Does anyone know what the problem is - if there is one and how I may be able to resolve this, Thank you.

Hi, is Ubuntu booting-up when you select it from the menu?

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Yes, Ubuntu does boot-up when I select it. It's just strange how it had only started showing the GRUB interface after I re-installed the package.

Hi, I don't know why the boot menu didn't appear before you re-installed the 10.10 version of Ubuntu. It now appears to be normal to me.
Kind regards

If you do not want to see the menu, change the 'timeout' value.

okay, so this would be normal if I have only the Linux Operating System installed?
Thanks everyone.
