    Postfix

    Hi All,

    I am using the Postfix SMTP server for sending emails. However I just did a default installation and subsequently someone is sending spam using my SMTP server. I would like some help on securing my Postfix server and to block these mischievous emails being sent from my server.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards
    Denzil

    Did you set up user authorization when you installed Postfix?

    There is a good thread on the subject found here;
    Is My Postfix-Dovecot Mail Server Secure Enough?

    And I would advise you to follow the instructions for setting up and securing Postfix found here;
    https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/server...C/postfix.html

    You want to make sure authentication is set up properly and that you don't have ports open that you are not going to be used.

    Your biggest worry right now is that you have spammers using your mail service and that might get you added to the spam list and blacklisted.

    I'd advise that you shut down Postfix until you make sure it is secured.
    That is, if it won't cause a catastrophe with any legit users of your mail server.
