    Linux n00b

So i just started using linux (mostly just for fun at the moment) and I chose Ubuntu. I'm currently taking a class for Fedora as part of my course requirements. I was just wondering how different the two might be.

Also, I get the feeling tht Ubuntu is kind of considered the linux for n00bs...so is this a good distro to start with?

Big difference on how package management works between fedora and ubuntu. Fedora uses rpm packages and Ubuntu uses deb packages. Fedora uses yum. Ubuntu uses apt. File placement is different in some places. Some terminal commands differ. As far as wine goes(your other question).

Fedora or Ubuntu will have it in it's repositories. Fedora is pretty much bleeding edge Redhat. Ubuntu is pretty Much bleeding edge Debian (but seperate from Debian also).

Ubuntu is a good distro and in my opinion more noob friendly than Fedora. Just my opinion though.
    Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the quick reply, you gave a lot more info then I was expecting from the first post.

I think for now I'll keep Ubuntu on my personal computer.
