Usb not recognized
Hi,
I tried to install Ubuntu UE, while installing due to less space on my pc hard drive i used external USB (400GB) hard disk for file system, i have selected ext4 file system and 100GB space in disk partition menu, after selecting and start to partition option, i remembered that USB hard disk is already contains 300GB of data which is very important. So I canceled the Ubuntu initialization activity with in 10 second.
The problem is now , iam not able to see my data and the USB hard disk is also not getting recognized in windows PC .
Is there is any way to retrieve my data , please help me
Thanks & Regards,
Addhu

Hard to say. I would imagine that the hard drive was formatted to ext4 and your data is probably lost but I could very well be wrong. Try doing an fdisk -l on that device to see what it says.
If I understand, you have 2 partitions on there: the 300GB one with your data, and the 100GB you began installing Ubuntu to; correct? Or, did you delete the old partition and use the first 100GB of free space?

Hi Thanks for the reply,
Actualy i didnt select option like delete old partition , i have selected manual partition with 100GB space with ext4 and click the forward key for next step of instalitation , but with in 10 second i stop the instalization.
Now i am able to see my USB in /dev/sdc1 when i plug the device, but i am not able to mount using "mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/" it is asking for file system
so without mounting the divice iam not able to run the fdisk also.
with the same USB device i pluged in windows vista, i am seeing the USB device in the task bar but not in my computer space.
