Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.1 USB Issue
Hi, first post so please be nice.
My main machine is FUBAR at the moment and all I have to console myself is my work laptop which I obviously don’t want to screw around with and is pretty locked down anyway. I have installed Ubuntu Netbook 9.1 Remix to a 1GB USB using ubuntu-9.10-netbook-remix-i386.iso file.
This works a treat but is not persistent so........I have then used the USB Start Up Creator program within 9.1 using another 1GB USB flash drive and set the persistence parameters to what I want and created another boot disk.
Again this seems to work a treat, it loads flawlessly but I have hit a major stumbling block as it is asking me for login credentials although at no point when creating the image does it ask for me to set users up. Is there a default I am unaware of? I have tried the following Usernames with the same/blank passwords, Ubuntu, Root, User, Username and am getting nowhere. I do not understand why the non-persistent version I created logs in automatically and yet using the same image with persistence I need a user/pass?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Jayelz

The default username should be ubuntu, lower case, no password.

Any idea why this is required with persistant image yet not with non-persistent?

No idea. Could be a bug with the 9.10 image. You might try a more recent release. 9.10 reaches end of life April 2011 anyway.
