    Another Dumb Question

    I have a Intel machine and what do i do? I install the AMD64 and not the i386. DO i need to uninstall the AMD and instal the i386 for my 64 bit machine?

    Help....

    and then where to find it? I went to the ubuntu site and it just has the AMD64 desktop version....

    plus having trouble running windows programs in linux but i have installed wine already and then there is the issue of uninstalling the AMD64 version and Installing the i386 version

    After looking at the Ubuntu Website, I think you have the correct version....it's AMD-64 but I think it also supports i386 and up. I seem to remember that AMD distros will not install onto an x86 machine and vice versa.


    As for WINE, your best bet is to look at the wineDB and make sure your app is supported.

    ok thanks....mainly play online poker and was trying to find a way around the virtual box program but ill give it a shot...btw my 64-bit machine has a i3 processor almost got a i9 but just settled for this for the price

    oh another thing does the same thing apply if the program is on a different drive im running a 500Gb and a 320Gb on this PC

    AMD64 = 64 bit. Also called x86_64 sometimes. If you want 64-bit Ubuntu, that's the correct download.

    i386 = 32 bit and for very old processors. 32 bit includes i386, i486, i586, and i686. Compiling for i386 ensures compatibility with very old machines, but sacrifices some capabilities of newer processors.

    Does what apply if which program is on another drive?

    Don't most online poker sites use flash or java? What windows program are you needing to use?

    Well this machine has a intel chip its a i3...Im Running 2 Hard Drives the 500Gb is the main and the 320 is the secondary. The 320 GB (secondary) has all my files on it. Was trying to get my Poker Client programs to run under wine...I like LInux better than windows os but cant seem to get to run my poker rooms in linux...was trying to use virtual box but didnt know i had to have original OS disk all i have for my hp is the recovery disks...

    yes im pretty positive they use flash
