error messages at startup of Linux Mint 8

Although I can always start my OS I get 2 lines at the top of my initial black screen (in white letters).

chroot: cannot execute /sbin/load-policy: no such file or directory
chroot: cannot execute /sbin/restorecom: no such file or directory

I looked in my /sbin/ folder, but there are no items that match these entries.
Anyone know how I can correct what's wrong and get these messages zapped?
    Thanks!

Using a dual-boot setup with WinXP PRO & Linux Mint 8 on a T30 Thinkpad.

Well, you can't find those programs because you haven't got them installed. That's what's causing the grumpy messages.

I think restorecon and load-policy are part of SELinux. In Ubuntu this is a separate installable package and it probably is on Mint as well.

Short of trying to install them just to quell the grumpiness... can I get my system to stop looking for them? Are they on some list that is checked that I can zap them from? Thanks!

    Added later in the day:
Well I went ahead (impetuous!) and installed the SELinux package and no longer get the startup messages. Now I have to find out what I've installed. Hopefully it will add a level of security to my system. I believe this is after all a security enhancing addon.

If anyone can add to my knowledge here I would appreciate it. And Thank You hazel for your help.
