Make Linux Look like Windows 95/98

Hello! Im new to the ubuntu family. I have just install Lubuntu beacuse not that i have i trash computer. I have a fast computer but i want back to the 90's in the computer world.

Thats beacuse I install Lubuntu beacuse it's the base of ubuntu. It's fast and extremley smal.

Anyway, i just wonder which desktop-program shall I install to have the Windows 95/98 desktop theme?

I have found one desktop theme who is look-a-like windows 95. But it's very old and I don't know if it's stable, beacuse it's like 10 yeras old.

Or should I take it and install it?

    Check out these 2 links;

SourceForge.net: Windows 98 Theme for Unbuntu 9.10 - Project Web Hosting - Open Source Software

    https://github.com/paldepind/Gtk98Icons#readme

    These are themes, not programs.
Themes are nothing more then window skins with added icon packs.
If you go to LXAppearance you can see which themes you already have installed and can also modify or download others.

BTW..... Lubuntu is a branch of Ubuntu which is based on Debian.
Debian is the base distro for all the others.

I don't know what mpeg file you mentioned but the link I found
takes me to .png (image) file.

    Looks like 98 to me.
The only reason he said it's not done is because there 'may' be a few icons missing.

    Let me say this.
I am quite surprised to even see this stuff.
Why anyone would want to take a superior product like a Linux distro and make it look like Windows, especially 95 / 98 is beyond me!

Mostly to piss off certain Linux users, i'm sure.

I do the same, I made my Debian 8.0 installation to look almost exactly
like windows 95 using mate. I do this because:

    • It makes me feel nostalgic - good o'l times!
    • People that have to use my system recognize it!
    • I like the o'l redmond theme better then all the fancy stuff that's around - but that's just me.
    • It pisses some elitist Linux users off!

Mostly, it is like if Windows from another timeline, where it actually just works the way I want!

I prefer to use Linux/Unix as an operating system but oh Lord do i hate most of the GUI's they
offer - gnome3, kde, i3wm.. and to name a few.

Persson121, it is unclear to me:
do you just want the looks, or do you also want the functionality of windows95/98?
the former will always be an approximation only (though i like the scrot that TaZMAniac posted).
the latter might be impossible to achieve (other than actually installing windows95/9.
in any case, it would be useless. especially the internet has moved forward so much, there's not much you could do with the internet explorer.

Are you a clueless Kali user? If you can't get Kali running on your own, it ain't the right distro for you.
