I have problem with nvidia geforce2 TI.
even the oldest nvidia driver provided by ubuntu doesn't support it...

If you have old hardware, you need an old linux distro (a lot of people will disagree, but they don't know what they are talking about...)
You need the 71.86.14 driver from nvidia.com. It will only work with xorg-server < 1.5, so any Ubuntu newer than 8.04 will not work.I have problem with nvidia geforce2 TI.

I use the 71.86 driver myself in Slackware 12.2 and it works perfectly.
Ubuntu 8.04 will only be supported until April, so Slackware is a better choice.
