YouTube "died"
There are different sites that I often look at that have YouTube shorts. For months I have watched them with no problem.
But recently it is no longer possible. I suspect that an upgrade killed something in the video of this computer.
But... I don't know if I have to add something, remove something or change something. So I need help.
Thanks
José

What version of Ubuntu are you running.
What exactly is or is not happening when you attempt to play a video?
Does flash work at all?
Have looked at what shows up for flash on aptitude?

I have been running 10.04 pretty much since it was released.
When I try to play a video nothing happens. That is, just a white sceen appears.
I am not too sure just how to test flash., and will need a hint as to check it with aptitude.
And... thanks.

Addblock Plus addon has been killing you tube videos lately. That is why I disabled it. Try disabling Adblock Plus first and see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it is not installed. Thunderbird "offered" to install it, but I think it is best not.

problem with shockwave?
In firefox, type about: plugins and search for "flv". check which plugin is in charge of flv contents. If it is shockwave, then you might have had a problem with some update: it once happened to me. First, make shure you have package "ubuntu restricted extras" installed ( in package manager). If you do, and still not working, I suggest you to install vlc player and "Media Player Conectivity" add-on for firefox. This add-on lets you choose which software you use for every multimedia content: use vlc for every video-type content.
Hope it helps you.

I had a similar problem. It could be the flash plugin.
I had recently "updated" the Adobe flash plugin too. And it killed youtube instantly.
I am running Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit. I had to get the 64 bit flash plugin, follow the find the place in the system where the updated adobe file had overwritten the good file, and paste over it.
There are some admin permissions etc to work around, but it fixed my issue.

Try out the following (as root) -
dpkg --configure --pending
If that doesn't work open up synaptic and reinstall the package flash-nonfree, nspluginwrapper

Thanks for the answers that I found this morning. But still no results.
Shockwave is installed as an add-on. If I disable it, Firefox says I need to install it for the video to work.
I already had Ubuntu restricted extras installed
Installed the Media Player connectivity, with no changes in the results.
In synaptic flashplugin nonfree was installed, but there was no flash-nonfree nspluginwrapper.
So I am afraid that I am still where I was.
I am sure it must have been an update, since a couple of weeks ago everything worked fine.
I would suspect the solution would be to uninstall something and install it again.
