my question is sometimes when i load updates with update manager it requires to be restarted but restarting a server so often i guess not ...

my question is sometimes when i load updates with update manager it requires to be restarted but restarting a server so often i guess not normal .how you guys relief this?i mean is it ok to restart server everytime when update?wats ur opinion?

You said Ubuntu server 10.10 and also said you are using update manager? Is there a gui installed?
Only the critical updates like kernel updates require you to restart your server unless you've got a gui with some customization.
Reboot doesn't hurt your install at all unless the updates were bugged and broke something.
