[SOLVED] Ubuntu and Nvidia Drivers
Ok I forgot to install my drivers before attempting to play Open arena which was an accident but I installed the drivers and it'll play fine for a while.....and this is with most games not just Open Arena. But the game play slowly diminishes and starts locking up or lagging horribly. I have the recommended drivers from the Ubuntu Driver Installer. I'm running 10.10 with a 128mb Nvidia Geforce.....not actually at my computer atm just trying to remember what i have.
Should I look online for more up to date drivers or something? Cause it gets annoying quick.

You could going straight to Nvidia's driver site. Download the latest drivers from them and follow their instructions for installing the drivers. I would recommend disabling and uninstalling the existing drivers first, before installing the new ones.

Some of the newer Linux distributions (including RHEL 6) are building the nouveau nvidia drivers directly into the kernel, which means you have to rebuild the kernel without them in order to install the nVidia proprietary drivers. A real PITA. Not sure about Ubuntu. In any case, I also had problems with the nouveau driver causing GUI hangs, and other problems. With the proprietary driver, these problems are all gone!
