Network is unreachable, fresh ubuntu 10.10
apologies in advance for my noobishness ;p
here's the deal. I decided to try ubuntu 10.10 on virtualbox for my win7 ultimate box. I liked it, so i installed it.
for some reason, it won't recognize my wired connection.
i'm connecting to cable via a router, however i cannot even ping it.
when i open a terminal and ping my router (192.168.2.1 when i log in from windows)
i get a network is unreachable error.
i've been searching for a while now, tried editing my /etc/network/interfaces file...
originally it just had the lo entry, so i added an eth0 entry...but no change
when i ifconfig it shows eth0 but no inet addr
when i lspci, i see my nic listed, so i'm assuming it's detecting it...
i'm lost at this point, so i thought i'd put this out there and see what you guys had to say...
thanks in advance
