    Asus eeepc 1005PEB freezes sometimes

    Code:
sudo lspci | grep -i vga
    grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Post output here.
Hey! I'm new in Ubuntu. I installed the 10.10 version in an Asus eeepc 1005PEB and it freezes sometimes, no reason.
I tried to put that in the Terminal thing, but first I did it and said that the VGA controller was Intel Corporation N10 family integrated graphics controller. I put the second thing (grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf) and it said it didn't find the file. I can't reproduce exactly what it said because I closed the window and when I tried to do the thing all over again, I posted the sudo lspci | grep -i vga, it demanded the pass and it wouldn't let me type it, I don't know why... I'm not an expert with computers, in fact I'm learning how to do these kind of things. Sorry for the newbe-overdose. Help!!! Thank you!!!

    Hi and Welcome !

Whenever you type password, nothing appears on screen, not even '*******' like graphical interface. Just type correct password and hit enter key.

Have you tried to change resolution?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Ok, the password thing worked. I was expecting the *****, exactly like you said.
This is the answer when I write all those things in the Terminal:

grep: /etc/X11/xorg.conf: No such file or directory

I changed the Compiz for Metacity, because I read somewhere that could be the problem. I didn't try to change resolution, should I?

Hey I have that exact same netbook. 1005PEB. I haven't been able to find anyone else with the exact same one. I'm also running Ubuntu 10.10. I'm sorry I'm just a beginner and I can't contribute to your question but do you have a brightness setting problem as well? My brightness setting are all out of order and I can't get it to go full brightness.

Thanks! It worked. GNOME power manager still doesn't work right but at least my function keys work and I can finally get my brightness to full level. My eyes were struggling there for a while.

Figured since this is a Asus EEEPC thread, I'd add this also.
