Unless they've changed something, you should be able to install the version of KDE currently found in the repos with the following command:
Note that mixing the KDE and Gnome desktop environments might give unexpected results. I'm not personally a fan of mixing them, but plenty of users do it every day and are fine with the outcome. However, you would have a much cleaner installation by going with a fresh installation of Kubuntu.Code:sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

KDE 4.6 isn't in the regular Ubuntu 10.10 repos. You can install it using a PPA.
KDE 4.6 released; ready to install in Ubuntu 10.10
