Very new to computers and Linux. Running Ubuntu 10.10, I5 2.67 Mhz, 6GB RAM and 70GB SSD.

Problem: web page load time in Chrome browser =1-2 seconds; page load time in latest edition of Firefox = 2-3 minutes.

    Hi and Welcome !

    Try disabling ipv6 in Firefox.

Type “about:config” into address bar of Firefox, this will open the config page. Type “network.dns.disableIPv6″ into the filter bar and hit Enter key. Right click on the line that read “network.dns.disableIPv6″ and select the “Toggle” option. It will be set to "false".

Restart Firefox and check if it's page load time decreases.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

This is unusual. I have the same version of Ubuntu and my firefox is running well.
What FF version are you running? and what kind of websites are you trying to load... do they have flash?

Hello and welcome to the forums, projection1234!

Just curious... does the above reply mean that the fix suggested by Devils Casper worked for you, or did you fix the issue in some other way?

Disabling ipv6 usually speeds up my own web surfing by quite a bit.
