No sound after alsa 1.0.24 upgrade

I am using linux mint 9 with kernel 2.6.32.29

I upgraded from alsa 1.0.23 to 1.0.24 using the alsa upgrade script. Sound was working just fine before on my Asus Xonar DS, However, my nvidia geforce 430's hdmi audio card is not recognized in 1.0.23 but it is in 1.0.24. Though the card is detected, I have no sound on either cards now.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hello and welcome!

I don't run Mint so don't know that his will help, but if you haven't done so already, you can go to a terminal and try running alsaconf to see if it will setup your sound device(s) again. Post back and let us know what happens with it.

Maybe some other member will chime in with some tips in the interim.

I tried that, but it did work.

I have now just installed ultimate edition 2.9 to try and fix my problems (have others other than sound), my sound works on my Xonar and now my geforce 430's hdmi audio is being recognized, though I havent had a chance to try it yet. I find this odd because the alsa version is still 1.0.23
