[SOLVED] Ubuntu compatible external dvd drives

I did a couple of forum searches and did get any answers...I have an HP MINI 210 netbook and am looking for an external DVD-RW drive...Can I assume that all external optical USB powered drives would work and be compatible with both Linux and Windows based OS's...did some online searches and most results were a couple of years old..
I am sort of assuming that they would be compatible with any OS ie Windows, Mac, Linux.
Another little point..I have been to the User Control Panel and cant find any way to add a "signature".. Does one have to have a certain amount of posts before it is activated or am I missing it somewhere in there....

    Thanks

Most of DVD-RW compatible with Linux and Windows OSes. I am using this one and it works really fine.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Here's one for 1/2 the price that I found with a quick search on buy.com: Buy.com - Memorex 24x DVD±RW Drive with LightScribe

In any case, you should be able to find a USB DVD player/recorder for around $50-70 that will do you fine. Any of them should work just fine with modern Linux systems. I've used iomega drives and others for years without problems.
