Question 'Desktop effects could not be enabled"

I bumped into this after a few updates a month or so ago and am looking into fixing it now.

My graphics card is an Intel Mobile GM965/GL960. The effects worked great with it at one point. I'm not really sure what happened aside from that they stopped working after some updates.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

You probably updated the kernel or something and the video drivers might need to be rebuilt. I would suggest that you do a full system update including the video drivers, if applicable.
System → Administration → Update Manager
