[SOLVED] Ubuntu software transfer
i'm downloading Ubuntu desktop edition for windows and was wondering(even if its only on like adifferent install version or a different linux) if there was a way to transfer all my software installed on windows 7 to Ubuntu. That way i dont have to reinstall all my old stuff. And if the programs would work with linux wether i have to reinstall or not.
Heres the programs i was curious about:
Photoshop CS5
Premiere Pro Cs5
Cakewalk Guitar Tracks 4
Guitar Pro 6
Glo Bible Software
Steam
I thought i saw somewhere that alot of windows software is already compatible with linux and i know those would all probably work with wineHQ installed but i was wondering what i could do without and and if i didnt have to reinstall them all.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Windows software won't run on Linux directly, but some software will work with Linux if you run it under WINE:
WineHQ - Run Windows applications on Linux, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X
You can check the Wine Apps Database to see what others have reported as works or doesn't work:
WineHQ - Wine Application Database
Another option is to run a virtual machine under Linux, or under Windows:

VirtualBox seems to be a popular option.oz
