Unhappy I changed the screen resolution, and now can't connect with VNC

Ok, so here's the deal. A few minutes ago, I was connected to my remote machine running Ubuntu 10.10. I changed the resolution of the screen while connected with VNC, but now I can't connect to the remote machine.

How can I fix this without leaving my house?

Did the VNC connection die or did it just hang and you killed it off? Or did you disconnect?
You may have to connect to the remote machine via ssh (if it's a linux box) and kill or restart the x server.
