    open office

    On my computer i just reformatted the hard drive and installed ubuntu 9.01 and then upgrade to 9.10 (32 bit)i cannot get open office to start up when i click on it to start it up their is a red horizontal line tha is on the screen when it gets half way through it disappears and the program never runs. When i go to applications scroll down to any of the open office products i see them all their but they all react the same way.
    So i down loaded 00o_3.3.0Linux_x86 Install-rpm-wJRE_US.tar.gz and iam not really sure how to install it any ideas?

    Open Office

    Use the synaptic package manger from the menu, or download the Open Office .deb package (rpm is used for CentOS etc distributions).

    Alternatively use this command in the command line:

    have a look at Libre Office
