    sudo grub-install /dev/sd5
    sudo update-grub

    ### start from the blog
    At the grub prompt, issue these commands:
    set root=(hdX,Y)
    linux /vmlinuz root=/dev/sdZ ro
    initrd /initrd.img
    Your machine should boot up. Start a terminal and issue these commands:
    sudo grub-install /dev/sdZ
    sudo update-grub
    This should fix grub so that you do not have any boot trouble anymore
