Sound issue on Kubuntu 11.04

I hope someone can help me,

I'm having sound playback issues here. Playback seems to stop working randomly (everything but the event sounds). By event sounds I mean when receiving a message through kopete, for example.

Playback devices:
Internal Audio Analog Stereo (Active)
GF104 High Definition Audio Controller Digital Stereo (HDMI) (Not active)

Speaking of which it just happened again while I was trying to pause the music through Amarok. I had Kmix open and saw that the "Playback Streams" tab went blank for a while.

I've tried reformatting as well as installing both 32bit and 64 bit versions. Sound still breaks at seemingly random times.

Also, for problem #2, sound comes out of both speakers and headphone output. Anyone know how to autodetect if there's a headphone so it stops playing through the speakers?

check this:
speaker-test -c5 -twav -Dplughw:2,7

if works, try play:
/usr/local/bin/mplayer -fs file.avi -display :0.1 -ao alsa:device=hw=2.7
or:
/usr/local/bin/mplayer file.avi -ao alsa:device=hw=2.7
