exporting the distro?
hi guys is it at all possible to export your distro as an iso image file complete with all your changes and installed software and settings etc? presumably this is how all the variants of ubuntu (and debian before it etc etc) have come about? or am i oversimplifying things on an altogether embarrassing scale?

What exactly do you mean by "export"? You can create the iso image with all your changes on some Ubuntu distros with remastersys. Perhaps you could clarify exactly what your intentions are.

I think he means backing up his current settings and files from one distro to another/same distro.... Correct?
Then turning this into an .iso that you can install?
I think your on the right track yancek, if thats what I'm getting from it
