    Microphone Sound Recorder Skype Problems

I have a Lenovo G560 laptop with built-in webcam and mic. I also have a Logitech C310 USB webcam. I had the Logitech webcam set up as the microphone for skype. All good.

Then I upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 32bit to 64bit. All went smooth after the usual fixes for third-party 32 bit apps.

Bottom line: the microphone from the webcam records a Mickey Mouse (or Alvin and the Chipmonks) voice in both Sound Recorder and/or Skype.

In Sound Recorder, I speak for 20 seconds, while the Length indicater counts to about 7 seconds. Playback is squeeky, Mickey Mousy (and 7 seconds0\).

I have alsa and pulseaudio installed. Don't know if they're supposed to play nice together or not.

Well, I went ahead and reinstalled Ubuntu 11.04. Had a few days misery getting the external monitor working, but the sound recorder/skype situation healed itself. Don't know how.
