Creating a Linux Dual Boot System
I want to make a Dual Boot system completely made out of Linux. The two OS will be Fedora 15 (Gnome) and Ubuntu 11.04 (as i love the simplicity of Gnome). The question that has been striking me for quite sometime is not that if I can have both of them on a single computer but that if both of them can have a single Linux-Swap and home drive with separate root drives. Root drives for Ubuntu 11.04 might be around 10GB while that for Fedora 15 will be 20GB with 5GB of Linux-Swap (a single swap drive for both the OS) and if possible a 20GB space for the home folder common for both the OS.
Will this type of a machine work?
If not why?

Using swap for multiple systems is not problem.
Having the same partition for /home for two distributions I believe would lead to problems. You could create a shared data partition for both Fedora/Ubuntu.

I was thinking of experimenting it once. Should I go for it. How to create a shared data partition for both Fedora/Ubuntu?

Fedora uses Grub Legacy bootloader while Ubuntu uses Grub2 bootloader. I would suggest you install Fedora first, then Ubuntu. The Ubuntu installer should detect that you have a swap partition already from the Fedora installation. Select to install the Ubuntu Grub2 bootloader to the master boot record when given that option. Ubuntu should give you an option to "specify partitions manually". Select that to get more control. I would also suggest reading a tutorial on Fedora and Ubuntu installation so you familiarize your self with the process beforehand. Also, keep notes on each step for your personal knowledge and also to use in case of problems.
If you are new to this, it would probably be easier to create the shared data partition once you have successfully completed the installations. You can post back with that question later.
