USB Ports Front AND Back: Non-functional

Device: On-board USB Ports (Front and Back)
OS: Issue began on Ubuntu 10.04. I reformatted and installed Kubuntu 8.04 (Current)
Issue: I plug in my USB Flash Drive Stick. The led blinks ONCE, then stays on.
Bios: USB Emulation: ON, though I tried with it OFF. No change.

    Details:
On 10.04, everything worked fine until one day. I plugged in my stick, and it locked up the computer. No errors.
Tried other devices, issue transferred to Kubuntu 8.04.

I bought a PCI USB Card and it works fine. Tried flashing cmos using the pins and removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard. Issue persists.

One site mentioned uninstalling/installing USB Hub Drivers, but I didn't see that as significant to linux. Any ideas?

This sounds like a hardware failure to me. Have you run complete system diagnostics, or sent it in for repair?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
