deactivate visual effects at ubuntu 11.04
Hi,
I have installed ubuntu 11.04 on my new computer. Most people like visual effects but I don't. Is there the possibility to switch them off? In previous versions of ubuntu this was possible at system -> preferences -> appearance -> visual effects. Unfortunately, there is missing this option in the last version of ubuntu at appearance. I switch really often between different things and the visual effects all the time make me crazy. Therefore, I prefer to switch them off.
Kind regards, Niando

workaround
I have found a workaround. I switched to ubuntu classic with no visual effects. This also removes the annoying panel on the left side. It is not very nice to work, if you would like to mark some text etc. in vi or the terminal and always opens the panel on the left side. The developers should change the position of this panel to the bottom or the right sight because you do not use so often your mouse in that region.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to choose ubuntu classic at the login screen before I have selected it in the preferences.
