Unhappy my HP G32's mic has stopped working.how to fix it?

    Hello LInux Gurus!!

yesterday i was trying to make a skype call on my HP G32 (intel i5 ,radeon HD 5000), and i've realized that the mic wasn't coming on.I've connected a Headset but still i couldn't have the mic working.

since i've installed(clean installation) ubuntu 11.04 i've been using it to skype(call/video) with the mic without any special tweaking, and even without the ATI proprietary drivers.
I've tried re-installing the alsa as suggested here and it didn't work out. I ended up installing ATI drivers and still it's not working.
I don't remember touching anything that has to do with sound or mic configuration. how can i fix this? bellow is how sound preferences looks like with headset mic plugged or not.

    thanks for reading this.

On my system I have a built-in webcam/mic and an external Logitech webcam. So two possible inputs show in the pink box in the image you've uploaded. My box is white. So I'd guess you have some kind of problem with the recognition of your sound system.
I'd start with System->Administration->System Testing to see if anything obvious crops up.

I noticed your screenshot in another post (via Google) and saw your Sound Preferences screenshot. Here's mine. My internal card Profile is Analog Stereo DUPLEX. Is that an option for you?
