ATI video driver problem [xorg.conf]
ATI video driver problem
Hi, i've been messing up with this problem for more than 4 hours, pls help, i'm exhausted.
(i'm from notebook win vista now, want to put ubuntu on my pc)
Ubuntu x64, installed alongside windows 7 x64, installation succeeded after tried 8 times.
after installation, from terminal did update>upgrade, while upgrading, pc crashed>restarted, but half sec before crash i saw that ATI driver started..
once i booted ubuntu normally(but the screen was flickering), went to ../X11/xorg.conf.failsafe , there was no xorg.conf
i zipped X11 folder, here it is: X11.tar.gz
all logs are in there, pls help making up my xorg.conf normally.
if you need any additional information just tell me, any info you need.

Upgrading is a hit/miss proposition. Normally we recommend that you do a clean install of a new version of Ubuntu, or whatever distribution you are using, especially since upgrading will likely break a lot of applications and tools. As for xorg.conf, the latest versions of the Xorg server don't require it, but dynamically interrogate the video hardware on startup in order to configure itself. That doesn't mean you cannot override the configuration with a properly configured xorg.conf file.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
