sudo in Xfce, unable to make a folder in root

    Hey all.
I'm hoping to setup MythTV in Xubuntu (PC User Edition) and when I run "File Manager" using sudo I am still not able to create the folder "firmware" (or any folder) in the root directory.
Other directories I have access using sudo, how can I make this folder and copy firmwares to it??
    cheers and thanks

I've not used Xfce in a while, but this should work.
    In terminal:
    Code:
    cd /
    sudo mkdir firmware

Don't forget that once you've created the new folder as suggested above, you'll need to use sudo to actually copy or move files to that folder.

    It's all to hard!!

I'm not trying to break into the whitehouse, I'm trying to copy what is essentially a file to a directory so a piece of hardware will work with the system, yet it looks like it's going to take me days to work out how, no wonder I get frustrated with Linux and just give up.
I just want to set up MythTV, this is my 3rd go, nothing seems stable or works, the out of the box (so called) solutions have left me looking at a blank screen (Mthbuntu) and the other one I ried (can't even remember it's name now.... no one at any forum for the particular distro has been able to help, and it's not like it's my hardware, I have lots of stuff to play with here.
Why does it have to be so hard???

If you want to use sudo in a graphical mode to make things easier, you can do that by following the instructions in the article below:

    Running Sudo Graphically

Note that doing so is sometimes considered less secure.
