Question Wicd is killing my wireless router???

I am having a very strange problem.

When I pull up Wicd and connect to my home wireless network, it connects just fine. After about 10 seconds I will get booted and the network disappears from my list of SSID's. All of my other connected devices also get booted and can no longer access the network.

The only solution is to reboot my router at which point it comes back up.

    What the heck?

Any idea what could be causing this strange problem?

I'm running BackTrack 5R1 on an HP EliteBook w/ Intel AGN5300.

    Hello and Welcome.
That sounds pretty harsh and no fun at all. I think I would be looking for a new distro. I don't think WICD itself is killing your router but there might be a buggy driver or something. I only say look for another distro to test my theory,,if other distros don't have this problem then problem solved.

It's not because of wicd I've been using it for many years and never had same problem. Maybe your accesspoint need to be replaced ?

Try pulling the power to your router and modem, then reconnecting first the modem, then the wireless router. Power cycling sometimes corrects internal errors that have crept in.
