Can I use sudo with wireshark?

I am running UBUNTU on a VM with a windows host. If I run wireshark as a regular user I can't see any of the interfaces. I can see them when I sudo wireshark but I'm not sure if that's safe. I am trying to capture packets from paris-traceroute. I'm a noob and will take any advice I can get. Thanks.

Sure you can use sudo to run wireshark there is no problem to do that.
