    Log In and Password????

Hello Ubuntu and other Linux People! I am kind of new to the linux world so if they question I'm about to ask is a total fail Q, I'm
sorry, but I don't think it is. I recently created a USB to boot
ubuntu and loved it so much, that I decided to dual boot my
computer with both Win7 and Ubuntu 11.04. I made the ISO CD
and I went through the loading. Now, when Ubuntu got to the
actual screen, it asked me for my username and password.....I
didn't set one and was never asked to set one. I tried pressing
enter, entering ubuntu, linux and even penguin. Nothing. Is this
at all common or did I get the bad luck to get the one in a million problem? Thanks in Advance!

When you install Ubuntu from a live CD/USB it asks you at the beginning of the process to choose username and a password. If you managed somehow to skip this step I suggest that you reinstall from your live USB and try again.

You might take a look at the link below to ubuntu.com which explains the process in excruciating detail:

Did you install Ubuntu on an actual partition or did you just do the wubi install?

A wubi install is not a dual boot installation. Ubuntu is installed as program inside windows.

I haven't installed the most recent version of Ubuntu but the previous version asked for a user and password immediately after keyboard settings. I can't imagine it's not part of the install. Posting more details on the steps you have taken might help.

If you are having problems, I would suggest you read the link I posted earlier. You also need to decide if you want a wubi install or an actual dual boot installation.
