Ran into a Wall, Need help w/Ubuntu 11.04 Uninstallation
Basically, I followed this guide (makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-safely-uninstall-ubuntu-in-windows-dual-boot-environment/) on uninstalling Linux 11.04 but here's a short version:
- Deleted Linux Partitions in Windows 7
- Popped in Windows 7 Upgrade Disk (Recovery Options)
- Went to the Command Prompt and typed the following things in:
- bootrec /fixmbr
- bootrec /fixboot (DID NOT WORK)
- It gave me an error stating "The volume does not contain a recognizable filesystem. etc.."
And now it always takes me to some MemoryTest program, something I noticed that was one of the options when I was using the Grub (Purple) but I never paid any attention to it.
Afterwards, I decided to use the command prompt to figure out what was going on. I was able to jump into DISKPART and I've attached what I have at the moment, perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can actually help me out.
Also, I have the capability to use my HDD as an external and plugged it in and all my information is there, perhaps you guys can show me a method that will allow me to get it back up and running.
The Windows 7 HP I'm using was a fresh install via an Upgrade Disc, the key was used so I don't know if I can use it again, otherwise I would just take the information out and do a fresh install of it right now.

Was this a wubi install or an actual dual-boot installation with Ubuntu on a separate partition of your hard drive?Need help w/Ubuntu 11.04 Uninstallation
If it was a wubi install, then it is installed inside windows as a program and you can "uninstall" it. If it was installed on its own partition as an operating system, you don't "uninstall" it. You would simple reformat that partition to your needs or delete the partition.
Did you have an actual dual-boot setup? Windows on its partition, Ubuntu on a separate partition? Were you booting both with Ubuntu Grub bootloader? If so, and you deleted the Ubuntu partition, you deleted almost all of the boot files. You needed to restore the windows bootloader to the master boot record BEFORE you delete the Ubuntu partition.
If the commands to restore don't work, it is likely because you don't have the correct files on your Recovery Disk. From what I understand, you need a full windows installation disk for this.
This is basically a windows/microsoft problem. If you have a Linux Live CD, you could possible use it to get some information. Another possibility is to download SuperGrubDisk and use it. It probably will be able to boot windows.
