Copying Vinyl LP's - File fragmentation
When I copy an LP to an NTFS partition in Windows the resulting .WAV files fragment so badly that I have to defrag the disk after each LP
If I use Linux Ubuntu instead and record to a Linux partition, will I get such file fragmentation?

Hi, Toolman.
Post Which version of Ubuntu you are using, and what program you are using to copy the LPs over.
Someone may be able to give you a few tips.Last edited by devils casper; 09-29-2011 at 08:47 AM. Reason: Posts moved to a new thread.

Linux doesn't even have defrag tools. You shouldn't see a problem.

When in Windows I use CDCHECK software to recover almost any file or input. It works great. I have recovered everything I ever tried. It is based on CD input, but will do the same for any file/input in My Computer.

Thanks for the tip about CDCHECK, I don't have a problem with reclaiming a file, it's just that the partition gets so fragmented it makes it impossible to record more than two or three large audio files without having to defrag the partition.
