device descriptor read/64, error -84
First of all I want to tell you linux-ians that I'm totally new to Linux as a platform and secondly my native language is Swedish, so excuse me for mispellings etc.
A couple of days ago my Win Xp crashed and no recovery disc avaliable, so Ubuntu 11.04 here I come. Thus far most things have run as expected no probs so to speak, there is two issues that bothers me though.
#1 Bug: Natty and NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200 doesn't sync, Ubuntu classic works fine so that issue can I live with, but I hope they fix the bug.
#2 Probs connecting to usb-drive. Noticed this when I connected my camera to the computer and it didn't show up as an external device., worked around this by bying a cardreader. The same problem occured when I connected a usb stick.
In common they have the error device descriptor read/64, error -84 when entering the code dmesg.
Does anyone have a clue what causes the error.
The only thing that crosses my mind is that when running XP the system indicated that it was a lowspeed drive and that the media could be read faster by using a faster port (is it called so in english to?).
Any help is appriciated.

#1 - try uninstalling the nouveau drivers and installing the native/proprietary nVidia driver.
#2 - cameras connected via usb are often an issue because of how they report their functionality to the computer. Your solution of using a card reader is appropriate.
I'm not sure what error -84 is from dmesg. Sorry. However, if it is a reference to an errno, then error 84 is "illegal byte sequence", not that this helps! :sigh:Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

#1 Just to make sure, do you refer to xserver-xorg-video-noveau 1:0.0.16+git201101 listed in Synaptics?
#2 The error not only concerns the camera it also effect a usb-stick Kingston DataTraveller. No luck after formatting it to FAT32 either, it still doesn't show up as a device.
The logs look as follow:
