Startup disk creator
Hi,
I'm using ubuntu and want to try another distribution from a usb pen drive but apparently the startup disk creator cannot create the bootable usb from my iso file... Is it normal that some distributions are not "recognized" (?) by startup disk creator?
thx in advance

Which is the distribution? Anyway if the startup disk creator doesn't work try other softwares like UNetbootin. Its linux version is available from its site. I hope this is sufficient.

unetbootin is included in the repositories too. apt-get install should work just fine.

Do you get an error msg? If you don't get a specific msg, have you ck'd the integrity of your .iso file? One last thing, if you're using a SanDisk U3 loaded USB drive or sdhc you WILL NOT be able to use it as a Startup Disk.
I'm struggling w/ the last situation & trying to find a workaround. That loader is a wonder in Windows & in the loading of some Linux apps, but IMPOSSIBLE for the purpose of being a bootable device in any Linux presentation, as far as I can tell from reading all sorts of posts in a diverse varieties of Linux forums.
Let me know if you've solved it or need more help? There's a few things I've learned in this journey ...

Hey, thanks guys for the replies.
I have tried unetbootin and it does work to make the bootable USB. It boots but I'm unable to use the distro. "Can't access tty; job control turned off". So I browsed and browsed with no luck, checked if usb is u3 or sdhc, checked the iso and all that to end up using a virtual machine to run the distro.
In any case thx for all your help
