    moving from vista to linux

Hello, I am completely new to Ubuntu and I plan to delete Vista after i complete the switch because vista barely works with only 2 gb of ram. Problem is, I cant find an easy way to move my 80gb of music and possibly 1 gb of school files. I only have 80 min CD's and a 36gb iPhone to move files outside the computer, and I'm not sure how i could move files across partition and then delete windows afterwards, then increase the Linux partition. I'm hoping to do this without buying a big external hard drive or burning 50 disk. If anyone would help me find the quickest, easiest, cheapest way; I would much appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance!

i am not an expert either but you can mount the vista partition and just drag and drop your files in to the file you want

    Welcome aboard!

If you don't have an external drive to transfer the files, then champ_weller has the right idea.

@jollykilla704, I'm new to this forum, but I've been using Ubuntu since 2005. Do you mind if I make a couple of suggestions?

I do understand if money is an issue, but consider this: your personal files are more valuable than the cost of the media on which they are stored. Your hard drive may fail - let's hope not - but if your only copies are on the hard drive, you've lost everything. Also - if I read your post correctly - you are intending to resize partitions. This is usually successful but it has the potential to go wrong = lost files. I do urge you to consider buying an external hard drive.

The simplest way in Ubuntu to copy files from your Vista partition is to open a Nautilus file browser window and click on the Vista partition in the left "Places" pane. The Vista partition will be automounted for you.

However, are you using wubi by any chance? I've seen no end of threads on other forums where people thought they had Ubuntu on its own partition but in fact they were running a wubi installation. If you are, that would complicate matters.

You can move /backup a partition with CloneZilla liveCD.
