    Dconf-editor BLANK?

I've had some serious problems trying to install the dconf-editor.Every time I install it,I believe that I have done it right. When I go to open the dconf-editor,its completely blank. What I mean is,I have no access to any of the system settings at all.I tried to click on one of the items,& it did nothing. This has happened every time,& I can't figure out what has gone wrong. So,I have absolutely no way of installing the Faenza icons or the Equinox themes, either.I believe that I read somewhere that the Equinox themes are not ready yet for 11.10.Beforehand,I had already installed the CCSM,which has frozen my system several times when I tried to start the 3d cube.If there is anyone out there that can tell me what I'm doing wrong, that would be great.Oh,yes,is there anyone that has heard of gconf-editor?

With dconf-editor open, do you see a list in the left pane, a11y, apps, ca, com, and so on? To the left of each one is an arrow. Click on the arrow to drop it down and you will see a number of items each with their own drop-down arrow. You have to find an item without an arrow to highlight. The ones with arrows are headings.

CCSM - Unity is a compiz plugin, but not all the compiz effects are compatible with Unity. The cube is known to be problematic. When you tried to enable the cube it told you it wanted to disable desktop wall, which is needed for Unity. There are workarounds for enabling the cube in Unity, but you need to be cautious with CCSM. If it says that it wants to disable something, stop there and do a bit of searching to see if anyone else is having problems or knows of a workaround. Sorry, but I can't help you with enabling to cube without breaking Unity. I'm quite happy with the desktop switcher.

Gconf-editor. This was the configuration tool for gnome 2 on which Ubuntu 11.04 and previous versions were built. Ubuntu 11.10 is built on gnome 3 which doesn't use gconf-editor.

Yes,I didn't click on the arrow,& that is why it wasn't working.I'm silly,& I probably should have known that I was doing it wrong.Linux is still very new to me,as I've only been using it for a week.

Oh,by the way do you like the avatar that I'm using?
