Are you sure it is a DVD-r drive?

A mistake I've made before... are you sure you're using an empty disc?
If I don't label them right off the bat after burning them, I'll assume that they are blank 3 weeks later.

Burning CDs and DVDs works exactly the same way.
I usually open Brasero, then choose Burn Image. You get the small dialog box asking you to select the image to burn.
One you select your .iso file, insert your blank disc.

In that order, I've never had an issue.

I'm not the best at reading error logs... but save it, and post it here.
Somebody should be able to make sense of it

#612318 - brasero: reports "error 15" when burning data DVD, DVD is corrupted - Debian Bug report logs
Not sure here. But most of us that use Braserio don't have these problems. So maybe a dvdrw drive hardware interface issue maybe?

If you wanna try a different burner. Look at xfburn. It is lighter than K3b on install.

    Code:
    harry@biker:~$ apt-cache policy xfburn
    xfburn:
      Installed: (none)
      Candidate: 0.4.3-3
      Version table:
         0.4.3-3 0
            901 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing/main i386 Packages
I have a DVDROM on this laptop so I have no need for a burner. But If I needed one. I would use xfburn because it is lightweight. Wodim is a good command line way in terminal to burn isos on DVD. Google wodim if wanting to learn how to use it. Xfburn is gui though like braserio. Rehat should have xfburn available but I don't do rpm distros myself.

Edit: Here is a downloadble pdf for burning dvds in Fedora 15 which is all I could find close enough to RedHat

    http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...disc-en-US.pdf

    Wodim instructions from Fedora

4.3.4.*Burning discs with wodim from the command line
