automaticly connect to network
well i am in creative writting right now and we are giving the oppurtunity to do research for this project. Well i dont wanna use windows so i booted ubuntu 11.04 from a flash drive. I see the networks but i cant connect to them because they are locked with a wep key 128 bit anywho i was thinking i could mount the windows partition and look for the password to the router, but i cant find the password anybody know where i could find it? the internet is coming from a cisco air port. please i dont want to use windows anymore than i have to lol

If you mean the WEP key, I seriously doubt Windows (or the wireless adapter vendor app) is storing it (in plain text or otherwise) on the disk.

well shucks :/ i figured since windows would automaticly connect to the wireless network that it would be on the disk well thanks for the help i guess ill use microsoft office

If Windows automatically connects to an encrypted ssid, then the encryption key was put in at least once - do you not have access to it? Where did it get it originally?

i cant get the key the teacher doesnt even have it the net/sys admin of my school put it in

never hurts to ask nothing our school runs off linux we have a novell logon client but it is one before the even bought suse
but i know he has dabbled with knoppix so he shouldnt be mad if i asked him lol
