getting xterm to run under ubuntu
I just upgraded to the newest version of ubuntu and it changed my desktop. now there's a menu bar on the right hand side of the gui but there's no button for xterm or gnome-terminal. I've tried right clicking on the menu bar and it didn't do anything. Any help please

You tried right-clicking the mouse just over the desktop?
Can you right-click over the desktop and choose "create launcher" and fill out details for a terminal app?
Else,
apt-get install xfce4
and get on with your life
