What updated driver are you referring to? You don't want to use a windows driver in Linux (unless you're using NDISwarpper, but you probably aren't). Firmware is OS-agnostic and is another matter, but I am not sure if you need that.

According to your attached info, your wireless device is:
    Code:
02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter [10ec:8176] (rev 01)
According to the Debian Wiki (which I think Backtrack is loosely based on), the driver for that is rtl819x. Look for a module by that name in your kernel's modules dir, e.g.:

    Code:
    find /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/|grep rtl819.*.ko$
For example, on Ubuntu 10.04, I get:
    Code:
    /lib/modules/2.6.32-33-generic/kernel/ubuntu/rtl8192se/r8192se_pci.ko
    /lib/modules/2.6.32-33-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rtl8192su/r8192s_usb.ko
    /lib/modules/2.6.32-33-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rtl8192e/r8192_pci.ko
Try to load one that looks right, e.g.:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe r8192_pci
Then check your network devices again:
    Code:
    ip a
    or
    Code:
    cat /proc/net/dev
    or
    Code:
    ls -1 /sys/class/net/

I was saying i downloaded the wireless driver for linux on the windows side, How can i import that into linux?
But I tried the find command and nothing came back, so I just open up the gui and navigated through the folders. The only thing that I could find that resembles rtl8192 was in /lib/firmware-2.6.35.8/rtlwifi, which only containted rtl8192cfw.bin and rtl8172u.bin
I also went to /lib/modules/2.6.35.8/kernel/drivers/stagining all that folder contained was .img files

Based upon your kernel version, I'm guessing you are not running the latest version of Backtrack, is that correct? Any possibility that you can use the latest version?

Also, have you tried the Backtrack forums? The OS is pretty specialized, so you might get more experienced folks there.

Edit: If you want to copy the driver from Windows to Linux, you should be able to mount the windows partition from within Linux (assuming Windows is on a disk locally attached to the Backtrack box).

    1. get hard drive listing
    Code:
    sudo fdisk -l
    2. find your windows partition in the list, say it is on the first disk, sda, on the 2nd partition, sda2:
    Code:
    sudo mkdir -p /mnt/win
    sudo mount -t ntfs-3g -o ro /dev/sda2 /mnt/win

That is correct, I'm using bt4 r2. I was able to mount my drive and moved over the .tar.gz file over but I'm having some problems w/ manually installing the driver.

Once you get the file over to your Linux side, try the steps on this page: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/lin...tml#post344054
That should help get you going on that.

You might try updating your kernel. Latest Linux Kernel Versions
There is better support built in the newer kernel for RTL 8188ce. I believe you can download it on a thumb drive with windows then install it on your linux system.
